BUSH THE 9/11 EVIDENCE THAT MAY HANG HIM By Cheryl Seal A Preliminary "Hearing" in the Court of Common Sense At the very least Bush allowed 9/11 to happen. But the evidence indicates his guilt involves more than just a huge intentional sin of omission (which now seems certain). So it is ulcer-fomenting to watch him, Cheney, Condoleeza Rice and their PR army try to sell America yet another Big Lie - that they had no idea such a thing as 9/11 could happen... they could never have imagined it in their wildest dreams... they had no specific warnings... there was nothing unusual about the summer 2001 warnings, etc, etc, ad nauseam. The material compiled below clearly shows that the above litany is blatantly, arrogantly false. But first, let's hold a preliminary hearing in the "Court of Common sense". To see through a wall of propaganda to what's really going on, one must tune out the spin completely and take a good, objective look at what has been DONE and what the parties involved have to GAIN by their actions. Let's look at the well-documented facts: 1. WHAT KIND OF MAN AND MOTIVES ARE WE DEALING WITH? First, when Bush, Rice and the other top Reichmeisters discarded the warning on August 6, Bush's approval ratings had sunk to just 49% this is the red zone for a president. As any political expert or presidential historian will tell you: Hit 45%, and impeachment is on the horizon. Second, Bush's actions throughout his entire life show a consistent pattern: without exception, he has always chosen the path that will benefit himself and his corporate friends most, and does so in the face of even the most outraged criticism. Third, the stolen election of 2000 proves that Bush was willing to participate in a very daring, very large scale crime in pursuit of power. Fourth, Bush's father's approval ratings went from shaky to astronomical within a month of declaring war on an "evil terrorist" leader back in 1991. This lesson could hardly have been lost on Bush Jr: Start a war and the emotions of the public can be whipped up , along with presidential approval and ratings! So, Ladies & Gentlemen in the Court of Common Sense, given the above facts as "evidence," what do you imagine a self-serving man who has faced no serious opposition from Congress, the press, or the American public would be likely to do? A bookie would most certainly lay odds that Bush would stand aside and allow an event like 9/11 to happen. 2. HOW DID THE DEFENDANT ‘REACT’ AFTER THE TRAGEDY? Consider, in the cold hard light of day, Bush's behavior after 9/11. First, he seized upon national fears, worked to intensify them, and immediately (without waiting for Congress or serious discussions with other nations) called for an attack on Afghanistan and a global war on terrorism. Second, but simultaneously, through John Ashcroft, he dismantled civil liberties with stunning swiftness. Are these the actions of a leader who wants to keep his nation calm, reassured, and standing tall in its principles in the wake of tragedy? Members of the jury, they are not, they are the actions of an opportunist who knows, from watching his father's presidency, that the window of opportunity for consolidating his power will be narrow: Bush Sr.'s approval rating high lasted only a few months. Thirdly, why would Bush admit to having been warned about 9/11 in the first place? In the corporate/political world, this kind of admission is a tactic used over and over by creeps guilty of huge crimes who know the heat is on. By confessing to a lesser charge, you draw the heat away from the main, really dangerous issue. Ken Lay, the head of Anderson, and every criminal who ever tried to cop a plea bargain have used this ploy. If Bush were innocent of any complicity in 9/11, why make ANY statement? It’s always the guilty who feel the need to make statements: "I am not a crook!", "I never had sex with that woman!" Or how about that row of tobacco industry CEO's who all swore that none of them knew their product was harmful or addictive? No, based purely on the evidence, a reasonable person would conclude that here we have a phony president who’s guilty as hell, knows someone is breathing down his neck, and is gambling that a preemptive strike while he still has control of the media can spin a protective wall around himself. Thus, we have Dick Cheney appearing on 5/19 on Meet the Press, being "interviewed" about the 9/11 flap by his friend and neighbor Russert. Yep, that's right both interviewer and interviewee live in the feudally exclusive Kalorama suburb of D.C., where houses START at around $1 million. In fact, on the same program, Russert even mentioned how he'd seen his buddy out taking the air on his new "It" scooter. How cozy! And this is what is being served to America in the name of a free and honest press?! You gotta problem? Just pick a pal in the press corps and tell him what questions you want to be asked so you can spin them in just the way you want. Russert asked Cheney how he responded to charges that the information existed in several reports which showed that a WTC-type attack was a possibility. Cheney responded incredibly! that reading all those reports weren't his concern. There's just too darn many of them. And Russert let this surreal response go totally unchallenged and unqualified!! 3. IS THERE ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO TAKE THIS CASE TO TRIAL? Here are the missing questions a real journalist or prosecutor would have asked: "So then, Mr. Cheney, just what are your criteria for a report that’s important enough for you to read? “How do you prioritize what you read or what those under you are directed to call to your attention? “What reports on this matter DID you read?" It is nothing less than insulting to one’s intelligence, is it not, that such questions are not being asked. Would any other court refuse to ask a murder suspect questions like "Where were you at the time of the murder? What was your relationship to the victim?" but instead say "Well, we heard from the police that someone thinks you maybe killed someone, so go ahead and explain yourself. We won't interrupt or ask you any uncomfortable questions. Oh, and by the way, your good pal down the block volunteered to serve as jury foreman!" Here's one last FACT to consider for the moment. The GOP spent $40 million pursuing an ultimately merit-less case against Clinton over diddling an intern and some real estate deals. Since Bush took office not one dime has been spent by Congress to investigate Cheney and his secret energy dealings not one dime has been spent by Congress Bush's stolen election not one dime has been spent by Congress to investigate Tom Delay's boiler room scams that have bilked doctors out of millions not one dime has been spent by Congress to investigate the mysterious wild trading of American and United Airlines stock the week before 9/11 not one dime has been spent by Congress to check out any of the other crimes that were far more serious than Clinton's offenses. Having spent millions investigating an office romance, the GOP has now worked overtime to block the initiation of any serious investigation into the biggest crime ever perpetrated on American soil and claimed nearly 3,000 lives. newsInsider.cjb.net [PART TWO NEXT WEEK: "VAGUE WARNING" OR BLUEPRINT FOR DISASTER?] UP! Weighing in at 1,263 pages and 583,313 words, the book could hardly be more intimidating. But that is the price one pays for a first-class intellectual thrill. "From the very beginning of this meticulously constructed manifesto, the reader is presented with a stunning proposal: ALL THE SCIENCE WE KNOW WILL BE DEMOLISHED AND RE-ASSEMBLED. An ancient error will be corrected, one so profoundly misguided that it has led science down the wrong avenue, until it is approaching a cul-de-sac. “As everyone who hated calculus will be happy to hear, the mistake is trying to capture the richness of the universe with mathematical equations -- Newton's, Maxwell's, Einstein's. All are based on an abstract, perhaps dubious idea - that time and space form a seamless continuum. " Equations are the wrong tool for understanding the universe. They should be replaced with computer programs - more specifically, the little snippets of software called algorithms. “Wolfram's theories are laid out clearly and precisely. Any motivated reader should be able to plow through at least a few hundred pages before the details become too burdensome. No one has contributed more seminally to this new way of thinking about the world." http://www.nytimes.com/2002/06/09/books/review/09JOHNSOT.html?8bu UP! Which is the only G7 country to have voted against the creation of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in 1998? ANSWER AMERICA! YES, 3056 PEOPLE DIED ON 9-11 BECAUSE THEIR GOVERNMENT HAD ABUSED THE REST OF THE WORLD - BUT DID THEY ALSO DIE THANKS TO WAR ON PLANTS?! Arianna Huffington thinks so! The Phoenix memo. The Rowley letter. The Oklahoma red flag. All elements in this true and tragic story of fumbling feds that has more smoking guns than a Quentin Tarantino movie. So why did the FBI, whose job it is find smoking guns, fail to see the smoking guns popping up all around it? In announcing his big reorganization plans, Director Robert Mueller seemed to consider the FBI’s tragedy of errors a question of flawed management flow charts, nothing that a rejiggered PowerPoint presentation couldn’t fix. But there was a much more fundamental problem plaguing the bureau before Sept. 11. And it wasn’t one of office politics, but of office-wide priorities. Namely, the agency's crippling addiction to America's war on drugs. While Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaida minions were diligently preparing for their murderous mission, the FBI was looking the other way with equal determination. More than twice as many FBI agents were assigned to fighting drugs (2,500) than fighting terrorism (1,151). And a far greater amount of the FBI's financial resources was dedicated to the war on drugs. And this pathological prioritization of the drug war extended well beyond the allocation of money and manpower. It was ingrained in the culture. Counterterrorism units were treated like the bureau's ugly stepchildren, looked down upon by FBI management because they weren't making the kind of high-profile arrests that spruce up a supervisor's resume and make the evening news. Let's face it, canvassing flight schools in search of suspicious students is nowhere near as sexy as one of those big drug busts with the bags of coke or bales of pot piled high for the cameras. It’s now painfully clear that there were terror warning signs aplenty but that they were disregarded by distracted FBI officials who had their eyes on a very different prize. In Phoenix, where the now infamous Ken Williams memo originated, counterterrorism agents complained bitterly about their efforts being given "the lowest investigative priority" by a supervisor who preferred glamorous drug-fighting investigations. Even though the anti-terror squad was understaffed, having been assigned only eight of the division's 200 agents, it had managed to infiltrate groups of suspected terrorists through the use of paid informants, including a man who was being trained to be a suicide bomber. They had also uncovered local men with ties to World Trade Center bomber Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman and to a virulently anti-American Muslim organization linked to al-Qaida. So what was their reward for all this? Regular head-butting sessions with higher ups who balked at having to allocate resources for information that didn't lead to immediate arrests. I’ll bet doubloons to donuts that the Phoenix agents doling out cash to drug case snitches very rarely ran up against the same sort of resistance -- what one veteran terrorism squad member described as "micromanaging, constant indecision, and stonewalling." Meanwhile, across the country in Boston, Raed Hijazi, an admitted al-Qaida member who had become an informant in exchange for avoiding jail, tried to warn FBI agents about Arab terrorists and sympathizers, particularly Nabil al-Marabh, a member of an al-Qaida terrorist cell who was arrested in the wake of 9-11. But the FBI wasn't interested in Hijazi’s terror leads -- they only wanted to hear what he knew about heroin being smuggled into America from Afghanistan. And it wasn't just the FBI. This Drug War Uber-Alles mindset infected the entire law enforcement community, starting at the top. "I want to escalate the war on drugs," said Attorney General John Ashcroft in his first interview after being nominated for the post. "I want to renew it. I want to refresh it." And he was true to his word. Witness the $43 million the Bush administration gave to the Taliban just four months before Sept. 11. Sure there was the small detail of harboring a guy named bin Laden, but the Taliban had agreed to ban the production of opium poppies. And so the drug war trumped the terror war once again. So is this kind of thinking finally a thing of the past? I'm not so sure. Even after last week's highly touted reorganization, which included the reassignment of 400 narcotics agents to counterterrorism, there will still be 2,100 agents spending their invaluable time and energy fighting a fruitless drug war. This despite the fact that combating drugs didn't even make Director Mueller's official Top Ten list of priorities. Which raises the question: if the drug war is suddenly lower on the FBI pecking order than combating white collar crime (#7), protecting civil rights (#5), and taking on public corruption at all levels (#4 with a bullet!), then how come 1 out of 6 agents will still be working that beat? The numbers just don't add up. According to high-ranking FBI officials, Mueller originally intended to pull the plug on his agency's involvement in the drug war, shifting every one of his counternarcotics agents to counterterrorism activities, but was talked out of it by drug war generals who can't admit defeat. Not only should the White House follow though on Mueller's instinct and choose the war on terror over the war against drugs, they should insist that the FBI hire new kinds of people to fight this new kind of war. "Merely reassigning traditional FBI agents to fight terrorism isn’t enough," former senator Gary Hart, who co-chaired the U.S. Commission on National Security, told me. "The new counterterror team should be more like the Delta Force. Not standard-issue agents in dark suits and ties, but young, imaginative 21st century investigators recruited from outside the bureau." At the same time, we should make sure that the administration doesn't just transfer the drug war and its attendant lavish funding from the FBI to the DEA, which will no doubt show up on the Hill any day now, looking for more money to take up the drug fighting slack. As the soaring budget deficit reminds us, federal coffers are not a bottomless well. Everything comes with a price. Sadly, it's looking more and more like the price of the drug war may have included the 3,056 lives lost on Sept. 11. Arianna Huffington http://www.commondreams.org/views02/0605-05.htm UP! [Israel] ‘SEEING’ OUR EMOTIONAL CENTRE “Seeing” is used a lot in Carlos Castaneda’s works. It has a sort of magical connotation, but it’s not as difficult to attain as u may believe. Consider the form of seeing which occurs when you say, “Oh, NOW I see!” That’s a kind of dawning or repositioning of perception, a “Shift in the Assemblage Point” (AP). We can sometimes have an AP shift just from reading a book or listening to particular experiences delivered by an individual. But for an AP shift to occur, the external material must stimulate a collection of memories and “proven experiences” to illuminate a new possibility. So much of the truth/validity in a “seeing” depends on validation through past experience and memories that we can become highly limited in the range and depth of the new “knowingness” received in the “seeing”. It’s relatively obvious that where we want to go often meets with resistance. So very little seems “easy”. What actually guides our life then? The mind may have a plan, and it seems that the mind is the one that is continually “re-directing” us to try to keep us on the straight and narrow. So, is it the mind that guides our life? NO! So does our physical body guide our life? It goes about the motions, works, moves, lifts, pushes. But no, it doesn’t guide our life; it just does what it’s told. The emotional body then. Does it not sometimes work against all logic? Does it not convince the body that it would be better to bask in the sun instead of work on a “life’s plan”? Does it not defend, and strive and need? Our mind and body bow to the needs of the emotional body. But how often are we aware of this? Our mind and body suffer every day, trying to implement plans that the emotional body is just not UP to. So, what can we do? “Stalking.”. We can stalk the emotional body - which means we can watch it. Throughstalking, the coordination between physical, emotional and mental members of our body automatically improves. We begin to “see” the folly in counter-productive efforts. We begin to “see” how we are (unconsciously) redirected because of emotional reaction. We begin to “see” how easily our perception can be falsely coloured and manipulated. Why has our life not gone as we had hoped? Because we don’t look and we don’t “see”. We don’t let ourselves see the untainted and untinted reality, and we react according to whimsical plans of folly. A research team was recently awarded U.S. patent 6,362,718 on "The Motionless Magnetic Generator." They intend to start commercial production within a year, with a device capable of powering a modern home that can sell its excess power to the grid. Facilities for manufacturing the device are being set up in an unnamed "friendly nation." Robert Park, professor of physics at the University of Maryland, says, "These claims come along every 10 years or so and nothing ever comes of them. They’re all casesof 'voodoo science.' ANSWER AMERICA! ISRAELI ATTACK LEAVES ARAFAT HQ BARELY STANDING Phil Reeves / Independent The punishment was swift, devastating and personal. The 18 people who died in the latest suicide bombing were not yet buried before Israeli tanks were back inside Yasser Arafat's West Bank headquarters on a mission that just fell short of getting rid of the Palestinian leader himself. They fired a shell into his sleeping quarters, blowing a hole in a wall a few feet from the bed in a room which, according to the guard outside, he occasionally uses. It was a powerful and deliberate gesture by Israel's armed forces, serving notice that they could easily kill him if he does not meet their demands. There was no plan to hurt Mr Arafat, said an Israeli army spokesman, Captain Jacob Dallal. But if there had been, "it would not have been a problem", he added. They smashed up the steps to the entrance of his office complex, the flight on which the limelight-addicted Palestinian leader and visiting dignitaries, from the US Secretary of State, Colin Powell, to the Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw posed for the cameras not so long ago. And they finished it all off by using a bulldozer to shunt one of his prized black four-wheel- drives into the doorway a contemptuous gesture also designed to remind Mr Arafat of the supremacy of the forces mustered against him. http://news.independent.co.uk/world/middle_east/story.jsp?story=302916 - wot we want to know is why mr arafat wasn’t out stopping the martyr bommers with his bare hands? why wasn’t he driving around in that four-wheel drive of his oh, oh. UP! DAWN OF THE DIGITAL Nearly 10 million digital cameras will be sold in the US this year - that’s compared with 15 million film cameras. By 2007 the number of digital cameras sold will double, while the sale of film cameras will decline. People crossing over to digital are beginning to use cameras in ways they’d never have considered with film. Perhaps the biggest change is the end result: only 12% of digital photos are ever printed. "We're beginning to take pictures not to keep them around, but to reach out and touch someone with them, to extend the moment, that sense of presence," says John Seely Brown, author of The Social Life of Information. POINT & SHOOT, AND THE MYRIAD DETAILS BETWEEN A serious photographer, accustomed to manipulating images through choice of film, lens, shutter speed and aperture, will discover that the digital camera is first and foremost a computer that must be mastered on its own terms. In a digital camera, light is captured by an image-sensing mechanism - usually a charge-coupled device (CCD). Next, the captured image is converted to digital data by the camera's computer circuitry. Finally, the data has to be stored on a memory card. In other words, it takes three steps to accomplish with electronics what film does in the time it takes to snap the shutter. The final two steps account for the often annoying lag time between shots. In the digital context, "speed" is a measure of how fast data can be written to a memory card - the same benchmark used to rate a computer's CD-RW drive speeds as 4X, 16X, etc. It is in no way analogous to film speed. Using high-speed memory cards can help reduce the lag time between shots, but this is true only if you have a newer camera designed to take advantage of high-speed memory. In most models it’s slow data-conversion electronics - not slow memory - that keeps your shutter inoperative for as long as 5 seconds that might have been a Kodak moment with a film camera. Hey, maybe that’s why Kokak came up with that campaign! At each step, resolution - the level of detail in an image - can be manipulated through a best-guess technology known as interpolation, which amounts to examining the image data in a group of picture elements (pixels) then filling the gaps between with a best guess as to what part of the image fell through the cracks. This estimate can never be 100% accurate, but it can trick the eye into sensing a filmlike continuity of color and rich detail in an image. Tricking the eye is what photography has ALWAYS been about. CAN ONE CAMERA DO IT ALL? DURING the consumer tech boom of the late 1990's, it wasn't hard to imagine how electronics companies dreamed up new products. You could just picture two product managers from different divisions jostling in the hallway: "Hey, you got your MP3 player in my cell phone!" "And you got your cell phone in my MP3 player!" And lo, a product was born. A lot of hybrid products (and product managers) came and went, but one obvious combo never emerged: a digital camera-camcorder. And while attempts have been made, they’re usually too feeble to be useful. It all boils down to the light sensor inside the camcorder: the CCD, or charge-coupled device. Building a higher-resolution CCD into a camcorder would produce much better still photos, but it would be a disaster for your movies; video images don't use nearly that much visual information and the electronic guts of a camcorder simply aren't fast enough to process that vast amount of information in real time. Only one product dares to blur the lines so severely that you don't quite know what to call it. It's Panasonic's SV-AV10, which looks like a tiny digital camera but captures movies, records your voice and plays back MP3 music files. On the downside, the SV-AV10 is designed as an impulse buy for the idle rich - a $400 geek toy with fairly awful quality in all of its modes. (Imagine a digital still camera whose best feature is its jittery-movie mode and you'll get the idea.) But, on the bright side, the fun to be had using a single, shirt-pocket device to grab a photo here, a movie there, is a strong hint that future hybrids may be worth waiting for. Over the next several years, bigger memory cards and better compression software will push the movie quality of still cameras further toward camcorders, and new developments in camcorder circuitry may boost the quality of camcorder stills. Someday, hopefully, they will finally meet in the middle. SHOOTING 'STAR WARS,' BIT BY BIT Eventually, many in the motion picture industry believe, most of the world's films will be made without using any film. Since the early 1990's, digital technology has been an integral part of film editing and special effects. The 1993 movie "Jurassic Park," for example, used high-powered graphics workstations to create many of its dinosaurs. Even smaller-scale films are typically edited using computers. Now the keystone to digital production is in place. Advocates of digital film production say that a feature film shot solely on digital videotape can now match the technical quality of one made with the best film stock. That’s what George Lucas, creator of "Star Wars," did with the newly released "EPISODE II -- ATTACK OF THE CLONES." The film was shot using a prototype Sony high-definition video camcorder. Digitally created characters and effects were edited in later to the live-action sequences. Even the sound was captured using a digital recorder. Film was used only to create negatives and prints for distribution to movie theaters. In the small number of theaters around the country with digital projectors, "Star Wars" went from storyboard to screen without a single frame of film being used. "I'd never go back to shooting film," said Rick McCallum, the movie's producer. "And I know George wouldn't either. We wouldn't have risked hundreds of millions of dollars if we didn't think we could achieve the same or better quality as we could with film." Getting the image to look like film was achieved by Sony's development of a high-definition camcorder that records at 24 frames per second, the same speed used by motion picture cameras. Shooting the movie on video also saved both time and money. Motion picture film must be processed overnight before it can be viewed, but video images can be screened immediately. Filming on video cut seven days off what would normally have been a 60-day shoot. "You know immediately if you'd got the shot; you don't have to wait until the next morning to find out if there's a hair in the frame", concluded Mike Blanchard, the film’s technical producer.
