who'll police the police?

the people!

when a community grants "policing" powers to a minority, it puts itself in grave danger.

it accepts that danger for a greater good, of course, but nonetheless allowing an armed group within an unarmed population clearly poses more threat to itself than a foreign enemy ever could.

so above them we place a freely elected government, and above them, just to be extra sure, we put written laws to prevent anyone just making them up as they go along.

and yet that is exactly what is happening today as regards dance parties. this infinitely precious network of checks, balances and safety precautions, this grandest of our social treasures, this proudest jewel in our human estate, is being squandered and debauched before our eyes (while threatening to alienate a whole generation).

it seems clear that a minority of older authoritarian types among the "policing" authorities have more or less run amok, unquestionably with a knowing wink from sections of the present government. such individuals are traitors to our democracy and common criminals. and it is the absolute moral and legal duty of their colleagues to investigate, charge and then dismiss or imprison them.

nobody has the legal right to stop, arrest or hinder you for long if you are on your way to a party, legal or otherwise; nor can you legally be randomly searched for drugs, weapons or any other purpose. and, needless to say, any "authority" who lays a hand on a hair of even the poorest, peaceful citizen is committing a crime which, because of the incipient threat to our democracy, is far more offensive and dangerous than any committed by the most cowboy of rave organisers.

the totally illegal and borderline legal tricks that have been pulled to harrass or stamp out festivals on common land for decades or dance parties on private land for the last six months can be duplicated in many other areas.

evolution^ is extremely confident that our democratic system can handle the crisis. but the responsible sections in the "policing" authorities must act, and act soon, or they too will become liable to arrest by the people.

5 juicy big life issues

1. right stuff / tuning into substance and out of junk

I used to wonder that anyone could be so insensitive and plain stupid as to boast that they never watch or read the news. I thought they were expressing a wish to live in ignorance of the environment around them until I realised that it was mostly because they didn't trust the news, or it just depressed them.

Well, I don't trust what is called "the news" either, of course, but that's why I have to follow it. We have to study the method of their lying, see, learn to see through it, and to teach others. Once you're good at it the whole thing becomes fascinating.
Remember that even the pale shadow of democracy that we have today, called representative democracy, can only work if people get the facts. If they don't then it can't work. FULL STOP.

It's a whole science, believe me, but it's not all a conspiracy. I have never met a journalist I would leave in charge of my planet - every one has been a cynic, and usually an alcoholic on top.

Here's a tip to help you see through the news. When you hear the word CIA prepare for a lie.

2. nature energy / WoMan part of life force part of WoMan

Inner city youth, get out into ye countryside and dance, make love, watch the sun set and rise.
Inhale the tingly air, roll on the grass, commune with the trees and animals.
But watch out for the locals, they're smallminded from too much tv, and their attitudes are usually stuck ten years in the past (when everything was a lot worse than today). That's why we choose to live in the city, where the future is being made.
But we're made of grass, water, earth, bugs and stars, and we need to immerse ourselves in natural rhythms frequently.
Look upon it as going to church to worship our Creator.

God isn't UP THERE, by the way, that's the single biggest mistake we ever made. God's DOWN HERE, in the Earth.

Dig our dirt-y Earth!

3. psychic vitamins / the politics of ecstasy

We seriously have to move away from our opinions in these matters. Nobody cares what you or think, the fact is that millions are already doing it.

So let's give our opinions a rest and face the situation as it is. Lets start giving out real accurate info for the millions who are experimenting.

In the '60s I considered it my sacred duty to explore everything. "Try everything at least once" was my motto. I even made myself go to bed with an old queen - but turned shy virgin when I smelled the sweat and Brut. I don't have a single regret.

As regards young people, the really interesting question to me is why some don't experiment. What killed their natural inquisitiveness (the basis of all science)? At junior school we were all ready for any experiment that came along. Sucking your breath in and out and then bending down made you faint, blowing out a match and then inhaling the smoke made you dizzy, stuff like that. All the kids were keen to try anything new.

By adolescence, however, a lot of the kids had had their minds closed, set on a career, or had become aware of the disapproval of most adults. Today most of them are redundant and look old and bald and fat and harrassed, and regard their lives as all over but for the pension payments.

Of course my generation had to learn discrimination. Because of their illegality, psychic vitamins are presented to young people as if they're all the same. They're not. Crack and smack are basically pain killers, only useful if you're in pain. Coke and speed are great fun (why do you think people take them?) but they're extremely addictive; and expensive, in that every hour up is paid for by 4 hours down.

The psychedelics (which include smoke) can't be taken for kicks or they'll turn on you. As for Ecstasy, well, if I was the goddess wanting to open peoples' hearts in time to save the planet ... But don't take it every week, it is addictive in the sense that pretty soon you can't face the thought of a party without it.

4. dance / rhythmic fluid fusion of body mind and spirit

Statistically most dancing in this country is still a substitute for sex. House has radically im proved things but ravers often dance away all their erotic sexual energies. Horizantal dancing also has its place.

I'm talking about dancing with steps etc. But there's another form of dancing I first discovered on acid in the '60s. I call it real dancing and it's like real music which is easier to decribe. Real Music sounds like every tune, instrument, voice and so on, all at the same time and yet all blending together to make One Music. It comes from inside your head or some plane outside, who can tell? After you've heard it, every tune sounds like a detail extracted from Real Music.

Well, Real Dancing is like that. It's totally unrehearsed and the whole point is that you really don't know what your body will do next. Takes a real centred control too, though, so you don't crash into something. And conscious effort to stop the mechanical part of your mind slipping into its familiar little riffs.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, imagine your body is liquid in which float literally thousands of tiny muscles, each of which can activate if you don't straightjacket your body into its normal dancing routines. That's what African and House music is all about, letting the physical end of the physical/spiritual being flow freely for hour after hour. Stretches every fibre of your body & spirit and if that doesn't sound nice I can't imagine what motivates you.
